Kentucky Derby Museum Invites Media to Unveil of American Pharoah Triple Crown Banner, Witness Screen Resolution Test of New “The Greatest Race” Production

Louisville, KY (July 21, 2015) – The Kentucky Derby Museum will host a special media event commemorating American Pharoah’s recent Triple Crown Championship and showcasing major changes to the Museum’s 360-degree show, “The Greatest Race,” on August 4, 2015 at 11 a.m.

The Museum will begin the proceedings by unveiling a unique American Pharoah Triple Crown banner in the center of the Great Hall, joining 11 other Triple Crown owners’ silks as a visual display highlighting accomplishments from these legendary Thoroughbreds. The banners hang 40 feet above the Great Hall, and a special ReachMaster Falcon Atrium lift will be on hand to assist with the proceedings.

Following the banner, the Museum will display a screen resolution test comparing the current version of “The Greatest Race” and how it will appear once transformed into the latest 4k “Ultra HD” resolution. “The Greatest Race” will be the first 360-degree, seamless 4k story-based immersive media experience in the world, with a presentation incorporating 30 million pixels, making it one of the largest digital displays permanently installed in a public attraction. Donna Lawrence from Donna Lawrence Productions, producer of the current and future versions of the show, will also be on hand to discuss the project. “The Greatest Race” will premiere to the public December 6.

“The Kentucky Derby Museum could not be more excited for the reshooting of ‘The Greatest Race’ and to work with Donna Lawrence Productions once again on the show,” Retiring Museum President Lynn Ashton said. “There is little doubt this project will set a new bar for attractions worldwide.”

The ReachMaster Falcon Atrium will be working in the Museum until August 8, assisting in the installation of acoustical designs inside the Great Hall. The enhancements will provide an optimum environment for the new “The Greatest Race” soundtrack and an improved atmosphere for special events.

In the year 2000, the Kentucky Derby Museum broke new ground by hosting the world’s first synchronized high-definition 360-degree show. Certain aspects of “The Greatest Race” have now drifted out of date and the power of state-of-the-art imagery and sound has opened new horizons for permanently installed immersive media experiences. The Kentucky Derby Museum will now stake a new claim on leadership among museums and visitor attractions worldwide by making “The Greatest Race” the greatest show it has ever been.
