Kentucky Derby Museum’s 360° media experience, The Greatest Race, now updated with Nyquist’s Kentucky Derby 142 win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – You can now relive the excitement of Nyquist’s 2016 Kentucky Derby win as it unfolds around you in the Kentucky Derby Museum’s 360° immersive media experience, The Greatest Race.

Each year, crews from the Louisville production company, Donna Lawrence Productions, capture the action of the Kentucky Derby and the pageantry in the Winner’s Circle. Following Derby, the winner’s segment is added to update the 18-minute feature movie, which is shown to visitors every hour at ten minutes after the hour in the Museum’s full-circle theater, The Great Hall.

“At the Kentucky Derby Museum, we are proud to be the keepers of the Kentucky Derby legacy. Once the race is finished, we are honored to add these once-in-a lifetime moments to Derby history and the Museum,” Patrick Armstrong, President of the Kentucky Derby Museum said.

In addition to the updates to The Greatest Race, The Winner’s Circle exhibit now features a likeness of Nyquist and jockey Mario Gutierrez, in the purple and white silks of Reddam Racing, LLC. The tote board reflects race statistics and payouts as they were following the Kentucky Derby on May 7th, 2016.

Visitors to the Museum will also notice the “Capture the Moment” wall in the lobby that features photographs highlighting the essence of this year’s Derby, featuring scenes of the day throughout Churchill Downs Racetrack as well as a large wall banner celebrating the winning connections, including Gutierrez, owner J Paul Reddam and trainer Doug O’Neill.

The Kentucky Derby Museum is open Monday – Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5p.m. For more information, visit DerbyMuseum.org.
