Volunteer Opportunities
If you have any questions about volunteer opportunities, please contact Emily Dingman.
Contribute to the Newsletter: If you would like to write an article for the newsletter about a class or student you teach/volunteer with, please contact the Learning Center. We would love to have your contributions!
Data Entry: Volunteer needed once per month to update student and volunteer hours for soccer, movie night, guitar and other programs in Microsoft Access. Experience with Microsoft Access preferable but we can train.
Grantwriter: We are going to be focusing our efforts on fundraising and grantwriting. You don't have to have experience but it is preferred. Time commitment: It depends on the grant and the number of grants you would like to write.
Fundraising Dinner Committee: We are planning a fundraising dinner tentatively scheduled in June. This would be the first time we have ever had the event. We need a committee to plan and organize the event. Time Commitment: Monthly meetings starting in January and any additional planning or promoting as necessary.
Silent Auction Items needed: We are participating in several upcoming Silent Auctions. Volunteer to help us collect items for the auctions or donate items! Contact the Learning Center for more information.
Recognition Party Sponsors: We need 2 sponsors for every party to bring drinks and party snacks for about 20 people. Parties are usually the second Thursday of the month from 5-7 PM, starting in May.
Drivers Needed for Soccer: We need drivers for soccer on Sundays. This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Contact Emily Dingman or Jack Cox to drive students. We meet at the Chapel at Churchill Downs at 5:50 p.m. and drive to George Rogers Clark Park. We usually return around 8 p.m.

Online Resources
Verizon Thinkifinity
Offers free online classes concerning how to teach English as a second language and literacy to adults. A great resource for volunteers who plan to tutor.
If you are a teacher or tutor and you use an online resource that you want to share with everyone, let us know and we'll add it to the list!
Outrider's Society
