Welcome to the Education website for the Kentucky Derby Museum! Here you will find all of the information you will need to book a field trip or Outreach visit. Our goal is to provide students with an understanding of the Thoroughbred industry in Kentucky, as well as knowledge of the rich cultural history and impact of the Kentucky Derby. We offer FREE Outreach to schools throughout the state (for more details visit the Outreach section), and FREE admission to the Museum between November 1st and March 31st (for more details see below). FIELD TRIPS
- Your choice of age-appropriate, core-content driven education program
- Walking tour of Churchill Downs, on the National Register of Historic Places*
- A viewing of a Thoroughbred and a miniature horse at the Museum Barn*
- A showing of The Greatest Race, a 17 minute film on surround screen
- Two floors of interactive exhibits with guide materials
- Plan for a 2 - 2.5 hour visit with flexibility to fit your needs

WHAT WILL A VISIT COST?
- FREE ADMISSION from November 1st through March 31st for all students and youth groups in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Washington counties in Indiana and youth groups. Additionally, JCPS and Archdiocese of Louisville schools are eligible for a partial BUS SUBSIDY during this period.
- April through October, admission is $3.50 for PK-5th and $5.00 for 6th -12th.
For all student and youth groups in Kentucky and the Indiana counties of Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Washington.Required chaperones are free at the ratio of 1 chaperone for every 4 students for PK-3rd and 1 chaperone for every 10 students for 4th-12th. Additional chaperones are $6.00 each.
