Your group admission includes all of our permanent exhibits, special exhibits as well as our historic guided walking tour. You can also take advantage of the Finish Line Giftshop and the Derby Cafe.

Backstretch Breakfast Tour

During this tour, your group will savor a Southern style breakfast in the exclusive atmosphere of a morning at the track. Guests will view the magical process of training world-class Thoroughbreds during their early morning workouts while dining in Churchill Downs' trackside kitchen. Museum tour guides will greet your group and guide you on a short walk through the barn area where up to 1,400 horses are stabled. Your guests will leave with a new perspective and knowledge of Thoroughbred horse racing.

$28 per person, includes Museum admission. Tour available April-November at 7:00am or 8:30am. 15 guest minimum. Plan 3 hours with Museum visit. Reservations and deposit required 30 days from visit.

 

Make a Derby Hat Craft Activity

Who doesn't love a hat? Derby hats are loads of fun to make. Your guests will be provided with a hat and Derby-inspired decorations to make their very own Derby chappeau to wear during their visit and to take home.

$26 per person, includes Museum admission and hat making materials for men and women.

Race Activity

Play the ponies with our own Kentucky Derby Museum race activity. Guests will wager with "horsey bucks" on three races and learn the basics of racing from the Museum's racing emcee. During the Holiday season we transform the horses into reindeer so your guests will cheer on their favorite reindeer.

$22 per person, includes Museum admission. Reservations and deposit required 30 days from visit. Plan 3 hours with Museum visit.

 

Inside the Vault Tour - New in 2012

Enjoy an exclusive tour into the vault of the Kentucky Derby Museum. Our Curator of Collections will do a "Show and Tell" of eight to ten collection pieces. These pieces will range from unique items in our collection to priceless Derby trophies. If your guests would like to see certain pieces, our Curator will do their best to present their favorites. At the end of the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to walk through the vault area and see how collection pieces are stored.

$19 per person, includes Museum admission. Reservations required 2 weeks from visit. Plan 3 hours with Museum visit. Exclusive to groups of 15 or more.

 

Breakfast at the Spires - New in 2012

A unique opportunity for your group to watch magnificent Thoroughbreds train on the legendary Churchill Downs track from high atop the fourth floor Jockey Club Suites balcony. Within feet of the famed Twin Spires, your guide will share the history of Churchill Downs and its great event, The Kentucky Derby, while guests have a selection of savory breakfast treats and coffee. The real magic begins as the track opens for training and scores of Thoroughbreds stream onto the dirt to begin their workouts. To finish the tour, your group will be guided into the grandstand, to watch, listen (and smell) the Thoroughbreds from the rail.

$20 per person, includes Museum admission. Available April-November, 8:15 am- 9:15 am.

VIP Tour of the Museum - New in 2012

Visit the Museum with personal attention from a private tour guide. Our Derby expert will guide your group through the exhibits on the first floor answering questions about the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports" and sharing insights along the way.

24 hour notice required to secure the guide. Exclusive to groups of 15 or more.

Day at the Races with CD

After spending the morning at the Kentucky Derby Museum, top off the visit with an afternoon of racing at legendary Churchill Downs racetrack. Your choice of reserved box seats in one of the premium dining rooms. One special way to enhance the visit is to name a race in honor of your group and you will be able to present the trophy to the winner of your race!

Louisville Legends Package

Enjoy two of Louisville's greatest sporting attractions at one low price, Kentucky Derby Museum and Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Guests will spend the morning at the Kentucky Derby Museum enjoying interactive horse racing exhibits, viewing "the Greatest Race" and taking a guided walking tour of Historic Churchill Downs. Next your group will travel to the heart of Louisville to explore the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, home of the World's Biggest Bat. See Babe Ruth's bat and take a factory tour that concludes with a free mini bat. Lunch to follow at the Slugger Museum.

$25 per person for groups of 20 or more. Plan 5 hours for entire package, including lunch. Reservations required. Additional add-ons are Muhammad Ali Center for $7 per person and Frazier History Museum for $6.50 per person Contact Karen Schneider for reservations.
