Flood Donations

Thank you to the community and all the friends of the museum for the outpouring of kind words, thoughts and support that have been offered to the Kentucky Derby Museum over the last weeks.

The flood on August 4, 2009 certainly threw some tough challenges our way but we hope to come back better than ever when we open our doors again.

As many of you know, insurance will not fully cover all of the costs we will incur to repair the damage from this storm. Additional funds will be required before we are able to bounce back from this disaster. For those of you who would like to support the Museum as we continue to preserve Derby history, we welcome your financial contributions. All supporters during this time of crisis will be recognized when we re-open. We also value the support of our membership base and encourage you to join the ranks of the many people from around the country who represent the core network we serve. The Kentucky Derby Museum is a non-profit entity reliant on private donations in addition to our other methods of profit generations (ie. tours, gift shop sales, etc.).

We’ve got an incredible team at the Museum and they have my deep appreciation during this struggle. Keep us in your thoughts and we will continue to post as many updates as we can to keep you in the loop. Derby history belongs to all of us who have witnessed the historic event – whether in person or from afar. We take the mission of preserving it very seriously and thank you for your support.
