Your opportunity to experience areas of the Backside of Churchill Downs Racetrack and see Thoroughbreds in their environment that are closed off to the general public and only offered to Museum guests!
On any given day of training, visitors could see a 2-year-old in line to win next year’s Derby, a 9-year-old nearing retirement or the Derby winner themselves. Along with more than 1,400 stalls that are mostly are full during the peak season, see the horses in training railside, catch them during a bath and learn about life at the track. Van stops will also accommodate for picture taking trackside (time and weather permitting). This exclusive one hour tour is only offered to guests of the Museum. The 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. tours offer the best chance to see Thoroughbreds in training.
Arrive at the Museum's Visitor Services desk at least fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled departure tour time as all tours leave promptly. The Museum's lobby will open early to accommodate tour departures only.

Please Note: Due to the nature of the operation of a race track and live Thoroughbred racing, these tours can be cancelled at any time. If you have prepaid for your tour, your money will be refunded onto a Kentucky Derby Museum gift card that can be used on future tours, in the gift shop or online store.
