Plan your summer trip to the Kentucky Derby Museum

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 7, 2023) – Kentucky Derby Museum remains open for tours, events, shopping, educational programming, and bucket-list experiences this summer.
While racing has transferred from Churchill Downs Racetrack to Ellis Park for the remainder of the Spring Meet, horses will continue to be stabled on the Backside and will still be training at the track. The Museum will continue to operate its standard and specialty tours of Churchill Downs, and guests can still enjoy the two floors of Museum exhibits, 360-degree movie The Greatest Race, Museum Store, and Derby Café & Bourbon Bar.

The safety of everyone at the track – horses and people alike – and the integrity of the Kentucky Derby is incredibly important to the entire team at Kentucky Derby Museum. The Museum supports Churchill Downs Incorporated as it continues its top-to-bottom review of all safety and surface protocols.

Kentucky Derby Museum has several ongoing initiatives that support its mission to teach everyone about the Kentucky Derby and the horse racing industry. Tour Guides engage with guests on a daily basis regarding a range of questions from the history of the Kentucky Derby, to the Thoroughbred industry, how to place a bet, and everything in between. The Museum Stable’s partnership with the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation allows guests to see a Thoroughbred stable up close and learn about the immense amount of work and effort it takes to care for these athletes. Finally, as part of Louisville's Cultural Pass, the Museum is offering free programming this summer to teach children about caring for Thoroughbreds and other cultural aspects of the Kentucky Derby.

Open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Open Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
