Kentucky Derby Museum, Louisville Tourism to celebrate Derby countdown with special unveiling Thursday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 24, 2024) – Kentucky Derby Museum and Louisville Tourism will celebrate the Derby 150 countdown with a special artwork unveiling on January 25, 2024.
On Thursday, which will mark 100 days to the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby®, Kentucky Derby Museum is thrilled to partner with Louisville Tourism to reveal the cover art for the city's 2024 Visitor Guide. Louisville's annual Visitor Guide highlights some of the top attractions and culinary destinations that the city has to offer, and this year's cover will shine a light on the city's rich Derby history.
The Museum is honored to host a joint press conference to unveil the 2024 Visitor Guide on Thursday, January 25 at 9:15 a.m. Museum doors will open to media starting at 9:00 a.m. Leaders from the Museum, Louisville Tourism, and the local artist will be in attendance.
Kentucky Derby Museum has a history of supporting and championing the arts with its annual student art contest, Horsing Around With Art, and by regularly rotating new artwork and artifacts in its exhibits. After Thursday's press conference, the original piece that inspired this year's Visitor Guide cover will be put on display in the Museum on a temporary basis. Without ruining the surprise, the artwork will be a meaningful addition to the Museum's Black Heritage in Racing exhibit on the first floor.
Kentucky Derby Museum kicked off the Race To 150 on December 6, 2023, the 150-day mark to Derby 150. In addition to the press conference on Thursday, the Museum will continue the Race To 150 celebrations by releasing all ticket sales for its 2024 Derby Season Tours, KDM Hat Show, KDM Ball, and several other Museum-hosted events.
