LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2011) – Throughout her extraordinary19-1 racing career, Zenyatta thrilled racing fans with jaw-dropping victories and heart-pounding finishes. However, it was her memorable Breeders' Cup performances, including her victories in the 2008 Ladies’ Classic and the 2009 Classic and her incredible finish at Churchill Downs in the 2010 Classic, that sealed her stardom and ignited a fan frenzy that has transcended the sport and endeared this stunning mare to millions.

As the racing world championships return to Churchill Downs for 2011, the mega-talented and wildly popular Thoroughbred will be its “official hostess,” ushering in the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration, Nov. 4, at the Kentucky Derby Museum. Breeders’ Cup officials along with Zenyatta owners Jerry and Ann Moss announced today that the official all-day event will kick off the Breeders’ Cup racing festivities and welcome fans as they gather for Friday’s card. The Celebration will offer the Zenyatta Reunion Luncheon followed by a fan-friendly hospitality retreat during the races and after-party that evening. Event-goers can choose from various ticketing options with affordable price points, and luncheon packages will include designated grandstand seating reserved exclusively for Zenyatta fans. “The Zenyatta Celebration is sure to become a Breeders’ Cup tradition,” said Carter Carnegie, senior vice president for Breeders’ Cup. “First up, the Fan Luncheon will be an amazing experience as we celebrate Zenyatta’s incredible legacy. At this reunion, her fans will have the opportunity to mingle with the racemare’s connections, participate in autograph signings, enjoy a Zenyatta memorabilia display and silent auction, and celebrate all that is Zenyatta. During the races, the Celebration will offer a hospitality retreat complete with food, cash bar and a betting machine, and after the races have ended, fans will have a convenient meeting point where they can relive the most exciting moments of the race day.”

Scheduled to appear at the Zenyatta Fan Luncheon are the Mosses, trainers Dottie and John Shirreffs, jockey Mike Smith, and even Zenyatta join in herself via live video feed. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breeders’ Cup Charities, which primarily offer support for The V Foundation for Cancer Research and Thoroughbred Charities of America.

“We continue to be overwhelmed by the love of Zenyatta’s fans,” said Ann and Jerry Moss. “She is truly a horse of the people, and we want the Zenyatta Celebration to be an event for everyone, from longtime racing fans to the casual fans drawn in to the sport by our queen. We are so thrilled and honored that Breeders’ Cup has included Zenyatta in the official festivities, and we are determined to make the party as memorable and fun as the action on the track.”

The Zenyatta Celebration starts at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 4 with the Zenyatta Fan Luncheon. The hospitality retreat will be available from 3:30 to 9 p.m., with the after-party immediately following the last race of the day. The luncheon-only package, which includes tickets for grandstand seating, is $95. Fans can enjoy the entire duration of the hospitality retreat for $75, or for $40 they can purchase a ticket to the post-race after-party only. An all-day Zenyatta Celebration package, which includes the luncheon, grandstand seating, the hospitality retreat and the after-party, is $170.
