Horsing Around With Art

Horsing Around With Art is a longstanding annual student art exhibition celebrating creativity inspired by the Kentucky Derby. Through depictions of Churchill Downs, Thoroughbreds, and the excitement of race day, students showcased their artistic interpretations of this iconic event. A juried selection of works was displayed at the museum, with top submissions recognized through awards benefiting school art programs.

Submission guide

  • Registration opens early October
  • Open to Jefferson County public, private or parochial students in grades 1–12.
  • Any teacher or school representative is eligible to enter student’s artwork.
  • Ensure all artwork meets contest specifications on rules and regulations checklist, which will be provided upon registration.
