Museum Education Internship

Do you LOVE working with students of all ages? Do you want to learn alongside an amazing Education Team that welcomes more than 30,000 students from Kentucky and Southern Indiana each year? Well, we might have the right internship for you!

Work alongside the Curator of Education, Senior Outreach Coordinator and Museum Educator/Program Coordinator in the daily management of the Museum’s education initiatives. Some responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with all aspects of outreach visits, field trip visits and virtual outreaches
  • Learning and delivering PK-12 educational programming and Churchill Downs tours
  • Conducting field research and professional development assigned by supervisor

Micro Internship at the Kentucky Derby Museum

This one-day program (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM) gives high school students a closer look at museum education in action. Participants will shadow our Education Department during a student field trip, gaining a behind-the-scenes view of how the Kentucky Derby Museum engages young visitors. It’s a unique opportunity to observe museum professionals at work and explore what a career in education, teaching or museums might look like. Apply here.
