Join us for an exclusive, guided tour that gives visitors the opportunity to watch two races at historic Churchill Downs. The tour explores the history, pageantry and legacy of Churchill Downs Racetrack and the Kentucky Derby. You will have a one-of-a-kind experience at the home of the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports", from fine dining rooms to the infield and many places in between.
You’ll start by traveling through the famous infield tunnels and watch a race from the infield, then move on to visit Churchill Downs Plaza, the Paddock to watch the saddling process and learn how race horses are properly identified before a race. From there you will move on to one of Churchill Downs fine dining rooms to view a race from the balcony, and then go railside to see more action on the track.
Inside the Museum you’ll enjoy a viewing of “The Greatest Race", a film that will immerse you in Derby day excitement and explore our two floors of interactive exhibits!
Some walking is involved. Tours are available rain or shine. Umbrellas are not allowed due to safety restrictions for Thoroughbreds on the track. In the event it does rain we suggest bringing ponchos and rain boots. The Derby Museum Gift Shop also sells souvenir ponchos.
Arrive in the Museum lobby at least fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled departure tour time as all tours leave promptly.
All times shown are in Eastern Time
Please note: Due to the nature of the operation of a race track and live Thoroughbred racing, these tours can be cancelled at any time. If you have prepaid for your tour, your money will be refunded onto a Kentucky Derby Museum gift card that can be used on future tours, in the gift shop or online store.
