LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 10, 2019) – The Kentucky Derby Museum is proud to announce Central Bank as the presenting sponsor of the Museum’s signature fundraising event, the Kentucky Derby Museum Gala. Central Bank will partner with the Museum for both the 2019 and 2020 galas.

“We are beyond pleased to work with Central Bank on the Museum’s largest, single fundraiser of the year. The support we receive across the Commonwealth through the Gala is invaluable to the Kentucky Derby Museum, its mission and its programs. With such a community-oriented company like Central Bank on-board, we are excited to see what the partnership will bring to the event and beyond,” Kentucky Derby Museum President and CEO Patrick Armstrong said.

The Gala’s fundraising efforts help support the Museum’s curatorial and educational programs, and other program services of the Museum. Education programs are designed for students in Pre-K through 12th grade, using resources and programs related to the equine industry and the Kentucky Derby. In addition to the in-house education programs, the Museum’s traveling Education Outreach provides learning opportunities into schools across the region.

“Central Bank is thrilled for the first-ever partnership with the Kentucky Derby Museum and to share in this long-time event that is both rich with the tradition of the Kentucky Derby and uniquely Louisville,” President of Central Bank Mark Wheeler said.

This year’s Kentucky Derby Museum Gala will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019. It marks the 33rd year for the event. Michelle Mudd is serving as the 2019 Chair of the Kentucky Derby Museum Gala committee.

“Since my husband Bill and I arrived in Louisville, the Kentucky Derby Museum Gala has always been one of our favorite events. We’ve never missed a year and enjoy beginning our Kentucky Derby week festivities with this amazing gala. I am honored to serve as this year’s Chair and look forward to making it a unique and fun evening,” Mudd said.

The committee has chosen a Triple Crown theme for this year’s gala, in honor of Justify’s remarkable feat last spring.

The night will once again kick-off with a cocktail hour at The Mansion at Churchill Downs Racetrack. Guests will then move to the Museum for dinner and dancing with The Celebrity All-Star band.

The Museum is excited to showcase its brand-new wing and event space for the Gala, allowing guests a new experience for the evening.

In November, the Museum officially opened 11,000 square feet of new space as well as the renovation of 5,000 square feet of existing space. It was the largest expansion of the Museum’s footprint since it opened in 1985 and one of the largest renovations since a major refurbishing project following damaging flooding in 2009.

The Museum’s new catering partner, Rosemary’s Catering, will create a signature menu for the Gala, which will incorporate the Triple Crown theme.

Tickets, tables and a new sponsorship package are now available here or by contacting Kristin Milosevich at kmilosevich@derbymuseum.org.
