We offer wheelchairs for the Historic Walking Tour. All of our other tours do require some walking.

*The Behind the Scenes Tour will temporarily be using stairs instead of the elevator to allow for more control over social distancing. There are four flights of stairs in all, though not all are taken at the same time.

Most of our tours are available everyday, 7 days a week, year-round. There are exceptions.
On race days (Thursday through Sunday during spring and fall meets) we aren’t able to offer the Behind the Scenes Tour. View Racing Calendar.
January through mid-March is considered “Off-Season”. The Off-Season Barn & Backside Tour is available but there are no horses in the barns. Secretariat’s barn is on display.
April 18 – 29 we offer Derby Season Tours. There are no tours Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Derby week – April 30, May 1, and May 2, 2020.
March through September we offer a Twilight Tour of Churchill Downs.
In October we offer a Horses and Haunts Tour of Churchill Downs.
The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thursday through Saturday, April 30 to May 2, 2020.

Please Note: Due to the nature of the operation of a race track and live Thoroughbred racing, these tours can be cancelled at any time. If you have prepaid for your tour, your money will be refunded.

Museum Accessibility

 The Museum and the Historic Walking Tour are wheelchair accessible. 
 An induction loop is available for hearing impaired.
If requested at least 10 days prior to your visit, the Museum will provide a sign language interpreter.

Free wheelchair rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis upon request. You are welcome to bring your own manual wheelchair, motorized wheelchair or electric mobility scooter.

No pets allowed at the Museum; Certified service animals are welcome.
