Kentucky Derby Museum Fan Fest Day

8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 16

(Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. for those who purchased tickets to the Barn and Backside Workout Tour)

A full day of Derby-inspired activities welcoming families, horse racing fans, and bourbon lovers! The signature event of Fan Fest is the opening of our new exhibit “Right to Ride” honoring the trailblazing female jockeys who fought to ride in professional Thoroughbred horse races fifty years ago. Some of these pioneers will be here in person to share their experiences, take photos and sign autographs. Below is a run-down of the events along with a schedule to help you plan your visit.

General Admission: $16 for adults and $10 for children 5-14, children under 5 are free, and includes activities listed below, with the exception of Brunch and specialty tours:

Eat and Drink

  • Brunch Buffet in our covered outdoor space with Derby-inspired culinary delights and a full cash bar.
  • Adults $18, children 10 years and under $10

Activities

  • Historic Walking Tours of Churchill Downs
  • Right to Ride activities including ribbon cutting, gallery talk and meet the Jockeys, Q&A, photo opps, autograph signing
  • Jock-Talk with Patti Cooksey and Barbara Jo Rubin
  • Explore Churchill Downs on our popular Derby Season Barn and Backside Tour and Derby Contender Golf Cart Tour.
  • Experts will teach you how to place an (educated) bet.
  • Showings of The Greatest, the Museum’s epic 18-minute film that puts you at the center of the Kentucky Derby experience.
  • Enjoy performances by members of Louisville Orchestra.
  • Kids (and adults) can make their own Derby hat and decorate a lucky horseshoe!
  • Remember Dust Commander’s 1970 Kentucky Derby Win with Trainer Don Combs, Jockey Mike Manganello, and Owner Verna Lehmann

Bourbon

  • Opportunity to purchase the Woodford Reserve official Kentucky Derby bourbon bottle that will be signed by the Master Distiller Chris Morris and the Artist.
  • This year, Kentucky Derby Museum is celebrating the 125th anniversary of Churchill Downs’ Twin Spires. Woodford Reserve has created a special bottle with an etching of the Twin Spires and year 1895 which is when the Twin Spires were built.
