December 6th marks 150 days until the 150th Kentucky Derby. We’re throwing an all-day party to kick off the countdown, and you’re invited! Don your Derby hats and celebrate the Race to 150 – only at Kentucky Derby Museum!
Don Your Derby Hats and Let the Fun Begin! 
Free Admission: The Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. General admission will be free for all guests.
Morning Coffee: On your way into the Museum, grab a cup of coffee from the Elevate Coffee truck starting at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and enjoy live music from the Louisville Folk School.
Gifts for the First 150 Guests: Get here early! The first 150 guests will snag a commemorative Race To 150 gift from Clayton & Crume and a commemorative Kentucky Derby Festival Pin celebrating Derby 150. All guests will also receive a thank you gift from the Museum, while supplies last.
Derby 150 Time Capsule: A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make your mark on Derby history. Share your favorite Derby memory by sealing a picture in the Derby 150 Time Capsule, which will be stored in the Museum Vault for the next 50 years. Bring a picture of a special Derby memory or a photograph of a meaningful Derby item you own, or KDM staff can take a picture of your item on site. (Note: No three-dimensional objects will be accepted in the time capsule.)
Gallery Talks & Family Activities: Enjoy interactive activities for the entire family throughout the day. Make it a day of discovery by exploring Ari's Horseshoe Adventure, learning about Derby history, and meeting a Kentucky Derby winning jockey!
Live Painting & Photo-Op: Witness the creation of art in motion as the Derby 150 artist, Wylie Caudill, paints his iconic roses live on a Museum photo-op wall.
Cocktails & Derby Treats: The Derby wouldn't be complete without a sip of something special! Our Bourbon Bar opens at 11:00 a.m., and Kern's Kitchen will offer free slices of Derby-Pie®.
Happy Hour Experience: For those looking to unwind, our Happy Hour from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. is the perfect opportunity to mingle. Nice Cream will put on a liquid nitrogen ice cream show and offer free scoops of Derby-themed flavors. Then, head to the Bourbon Bar to enjoy a $5 Old Fashioned!
Hat Shopping: Looking to up your Derby hat game? The KDM Featured Milliners will be on site from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with special discounts on their stunning hats and the newest styles. Milliners will offer either $150 hats or $150 off their hats.
Railbird Runway Contest: It's the big finale! Fashionistas, this is your time to shine. Strut your stuff on the runway at 5:30 p.m. and let your Derby style take the spotlight. A panel of local media judges will award three prizes to the most festive Derby hats.
